en Following the Maui meeting of JPEG in December 1999, agreement was reached on the first Committee Draft of Part 1 of the JPEG 2000 standard. This was a significant milestone in the standardisation process that eventually culminated in the publication of International Standard ISO/IEC 15444 Part 1. The 'Joint' in Joint Photographic Experts Group refers to the link with ITU-T, and ISO/IEC 15444-1 will also be an ITU-T Recommendation, T.800 - the texts will be identical.
At the Rochester meeting of JPEG in August 2000, the Final Draft International Standard was issued, put out to all interested national bodies in ISO for vote, and accepted as a full International Standard in December 2000. It may now be purchased from ISO, ITU-T or your national standards body.
JPEG makes the draft text of its standards available on this Web site for potential users and implementors to evaluate. Please read the covering notes before downloading the Final Committee Draft (FCD) of JPEG 2000 Part 1 and other available parts. Please note that the FCD is the last version of the document that ISO currently permits to be made freely available from the Web site - we cannot respond to requests for the final text as this is copyright of ISO and ITU-T.
